PanAmSat
in play, “Merge
with Eutelsat”
KPN sells Eutelsat stake
The world’s satellite industry professionals
meet in Washington DC this week for their annual
gab-fest, and much of the talk on the conference
floor will concern those perennial questions
of ’who is buying whom?’ This time
last year it was Eutelsat’s name that was
firmly in the gossip frame. This week it is PanAmSat
(PAS), although Eutelsat is still managing to
make some headlines, and an investment bank report
gave one possible outcome for both companies,
suggesting PAS could merge with Eutelsat, and
in the process create “the largest fixed
satellite service player in the industry with
an enviable collection of video-centric satellites.”
