Only 2 Global Operators by 2007?
Significant consolidation predicted

PanAmSat’s impending sale, either as a single unit or broken up into orbital assets, could be resolved by the end of April, according to Romain Bausch, president of SES Global. PAS is being offered for sale by News Corp-owned Hughes Electronics which itself owns some 81% of PAS, with the remaining 19% in public ownership. However, the question as to what PanAmSat’s founders (Mary Anselmo, widow of founder Rene Anselmo, is reported to hold about 7% of PAS) might do is yet to be disclosed.
