DARS confusion at SES
But SES wants Eutelsat slots

Last week’s Satellite 2006 conference threw up two sharp differences over European satellite radio. SES Americom’s president Ed Horowitz said Europe’s would be sat-radio players ought to remember that 20 years ago the same doom-sayers said DTH would never work in Europe because of its myriad tiers of local regulation, language differences and the domination of the TV industry by Europe’s public broadcasters.
