Eutelsat’s “strong” numbers
Eutelsat turned in an attractive set of Q4 and full year (unaudited) earnings, well exceeding market expectations and their own earlier guidance. The official numbers will appear on September 4. One nugget of information showed how much European television has changed when Eutelsat revealed that it is transmitting only 12 analogue channels across its entire fleet as at June 30 (down from 15 a year earlier). The not so subliminal message in this statement is that Eutelsat has fully embraced digital television and is not likely to be subject to unneeded capacity when these remaining analogue transponders are eventually switched off.
